Summer is ending, and I couldn't be more pleased. It's not that I dislike summer in theory. I enjoy the idea of relaxing, vacations, free time, swimming, vacations, grilling, all that stuff. I even enjoy the practice of a few of those things. What I don't like is the heat. Chicago's mild humidity and decently high temperatures make work a bit sluggish. It's hard to stay motivated to sit at a computer, or spend hours in a recording studio, when you just want to jump in a pool, or maybe have a pool built in the backyard so that jumping in a pool would actually be possible. The heat melts ice cream, and it melts brains as well. That's why September feels so exciting. Where the summer months are for sluggishness and exhaustion, the Fall climate brings about renewed energy for creativity and production. The only problem is deciding one what types of projects to work on, and which ones to work on first! New albums? A new magazine, or a new book line? Prints and stickers? Contests? It's pretty hard to nail down exactly what should be done when... but that's not something for you to worry about. That's my job. So where was I? Oh yes, personal productivity in the coming months. |
Sidedown is following suit; We've already got a hefty line-up of projects and products this month. More books, more music, tons of podcasting, and the first issue of our graphic novel looming on the horizon. Will it be a September release?! As Autumn sets in, the gear gets kicked up even more, with Sidedown Monograph #3, yet another album from Sidedown Audio, and a few surprises on top of all of that. New This Month First up, we're proud to present Release, our third album on the Sidedown Audio label. This is a calm, meditative album that is perfect for getting the mind back into an efficient and inspired place. HAPPY FAMILY really came through and delivered a nice set of tracks. We've got a new HEY Quarterly for you... this one dedicated to our favorite people: jerks. We've moved HEY over to a new printer, so this will be the first issue that is completely in color!. Remember, all proceeds for HEY go to the Anti-Cruelty Society this year, because we don't like animals being hurt! There will be more to come as the month progresses... a new print, perhaps? Stickers? Who knows... anything's possible! |
