A monograph is defined as "a detailed written study of a single specialized subject or an aspect of it". That definition only mildly applies to this book.
SM#1 is a collection of work from writers, artists, musicians, designers and appreciators—random, fun, and inherently collaborative.
Over the course of 2006, we created and compiled stories, artwork, and design concepts from individuals related to Sidedown in some way. Some of these people are long-time friends and participants, others are fresh new additions to our world.
The resultant of bringing such a disparate group of people and ideas together is Sidedown Monograph Number One, a 200-page book containing work from 11 creators. The book is 6x9 inches, with several handmade extras (limited edition print, stickers, handmade outer sleeve, 1.25" button, etc.)
Though there is no true subject for the book, participants were given an open subject that they could opt to focus on: An Enemy's Friend. This topic spans not only the monograph but also is the title of the new album from Des Sovere (a quasi-companion piece to the book).
